The conversion of the 100-room property will mark Tribute Portfolio’s debut in this key Colombian region, contributing to the creation of a distinctive Marriott multi-brand destination in Colombia’s Coffee Cultural Landscape.
Miami, Florida – November 4, 2026 – Marriott International, Inc. today announced the signing of an agreement to convert Hotel Mocawa Resort, located in La Tebaida, Quindío, to Tribute Portfolio. The 100-room property is expected to join Tribute Portfolio in the second quarter of 2027, marking the brand’s debut in the department of Quindío. The property is strategically located just minutes from Armenia, the department’s capital, and in the heart of Colombia’s Coffee Cultural Landscape.
The signing represents the second Marriott branded project in Quindío, following the signing of the upcoming AC Hotel by Marriott Armenia, expected to open in 2028. Together, these projects reflect a shared vision between Marriott and its local partners to strengthen the destination’s hospitality offering and develop a multi-brand tourism and business hub in Quindío, leveraging the distinct positioning of Marriott’s portfolio of brands.
Quindío and Armenia area continue to represent a compelling market for both leisure and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) travel, driven by the region’s world-renowned coffee heritage, breathtaking biodiversity, and expanding infrastructure for domestic and international travelers.
“Colombia’s Coffee Cultural Landscape is one of Latin America’s most dynamic and culturally authentic destinations,” said Joanna Ayala, Vice president of Development for Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America. “Hotel Mocawa Resort is a natural fit for Tribute Portfolio, a brand celebrated for its independent spirit, distinctive character, and deep connection to local communities. This signing not only marks Tribute Portfolio’s arrival in Quindío but also reinforces our proven ability to drive growth through strategic conversions that honor a property’s unique identity while plugging into Marriott’s powerful global commercial engine.”
“Collaborating with Marriott International to bring Tribute Portfolio to our resort marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our property and for the entire Quindío department,” said Hernando Márquez Aristizábal, Presidente del Comité Fiduciario. “Since our opening, our vision has been to celebrate the rich culture and hospitality of Colombia’s Coffee Region. Joining Tribute Portfolio and the Marriott Bonvoy ecosystem will elevate our international visibility and attract travelers from around the world, all while preserving the warmth, authenticity, and architectural spirit that make Mocawa Resort so unique.”
Originally opened in 2015 on the grounds of a former coffee plantation, Hotel Mocawa Resort was conceived to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and natural landscapes of the region. Its architecture artfully blends the charm of traditional coffee haciendas with modern hospitality standards. The resort offers an expansive array of amenities, including destination dining venues and vibrant bars inspired by local culinary traditions, outdoor swimming pools set against lush scenery, a comprehensive spa and wellness center, and dedicated sports facilities. Designed to host both memorable leisure getaways and world-class gatherings, the property features versatile meeting rooms and scenic outdoor grounds ideal for destination weddings, incentive travel, and corporate retreats.
Strategically located in La Tebaida, the property is just 10 minutes from El Edén International Airport (AXM) and approximately 20 minutes from downtown Armenia, offering convenient connectivity to the region’s primary eco-tourism circuits, theme parks, and cultural coffee experiences.
